Biography Herbert Maassen
1953 I was born in Germany. Grandpa Josef Coenen bought my first accordion. Bernd-Walter, my brother, was born 10 years later. So, for the first 10 years of my life I grew up as a single child. My mother, Katharina, had to work from home as a seamstress to pay for my accordion lessons. My father, Walter, was always a hard worker and has always supported my Education in school or my accordion-lessons. 1971 Done with high school... Oh !...I hated school ! 7 years "Latin" 4 years "English" 4 years "French" How little did I know that languages would become very important in my life !
1971-1974 I became an "Air traffic controller" ....."How is your English ?"..... ....."Parlez-vous francais ?"..... Aha !
1975/1976 German Armee The military police was just want I wanted. But 18 months of it was enough.
1976-1978 Music... music...music ! Playing in bands...traveling all over Europe... ...seeing a lot of places...and a lot of people. ...until
October 1978 Helma entered into my life. I loved her the moment I saw her...and still love her until today ! We got married on Aug.03.1979
1980 Our son Christian was born.
1981 Our daughter Isabelle was born
1983 We emigrated to Canada. ....."How is your English?".....
1983-2007 I supported my family by working as a: >Bee-keeper >Truck driver >Janitor >Gardener >Arborist ...and of course as a musician !
2007 until today I started composing songs about 6 years ago. Now the children are grown up and we moved into a quiet little town in Saskatchewan. I enjoy the music as never before. Playing in many nursing homes and seeing how much the seniors appreciate "Music" ...that fills my heart with great joy.
Within the last year alone I was able to produce 4 CDs. That brings it to a total of 19 CDS all together. Almost every day we receive orders for CDs from around the world: UK/Finland/Latvia/Spain/Germany USA/Australia/Belgium.....just to mention a few.
Music is a gift... ...yes it is a gift from our creator "Jehovah". I always want to use this beautiful gift to praise his name.
